Cabot Trail

per person

The Cabot Trail is wonderful scenic highway on Cape Breton Island.

It is a 298 km loop around the northern tip of the island, passing along and through the Cape Breton Highlands and the Cape Breton Highlands National Park. It is named after the explorer John Cabot who landed in Atlantic Canada in 1497, although modern historians agree his landfall likely took place in Newfoundland and not Cape Breton Island. Construction of the initial route was completed in 1932.

The Cabot Trail makes a 185-mile (298-kilometer) loop around a sizeable chunk of the island, passing through the Cape Breton Highlands National Park at its northernmost point. The Cabot Trail loops in either direction, starting from Baddeck or the Trans Canada Highway, this will give you time for some stops.
